I grew up drawing & painting, got an MFA in studio art & now I use illustration to provide my designs with originality & authenticity.

This project I did for Willamette Falls Trust is a good example of my process.

Willamette Falls Trust is a nonprofit raising funds and engaging the community to realize the collective vision for an exceptional experience at Willamette Falls, Oregon. Original art allows the organization to capture the imagination of donors and share their vision before construction begins in the space.

I make art by hand in multiple mediums and diverse styles then use design software to iterate and experiment. This artwork was for a donor event. Here is the rough sketch I shared with The Trust to make sure I was heading in the right direction.

The Trust reviewed my rough sketch and asked me to adjust the focus so that we were seeing more of the falls and the architecture, so I shifted from an airplane's viewpoint to a kayak's and removed trees and sky details to avoid distraction.

I use painting and printmaking techniques to create background textures with a handcrafted feel. The brand is unified by a combination of textured and untextured elements in all of their artwork.
